Our 2015 Maker Faire Attendance Plans, with Added Bribery

Gareth Halfacree

It's now late enough in the year that we have finalised our event schedule, and that means it's time to issue an open invitation for you all to join us! As always, we're booked in to attend a fistful of Maker Faire and Mini Maker Faire events throughout the world and we'd absolutely love to see you there - so much so, in fact, that we're willing to bribe you.

If you're a newcomer to Make Magazine's Maker Faires, and their community-organised Mini Maker Faire offshoots, you're in for a treat. For exhibitors, a Maker Faire is a chance to show off what you've been working on - and if you're expecting that to mean a dry tradeshow event, you couldn't be more wrong. The people who exhibit at Maker Faires are, as the name suggests, makers - and that means for every stand that is trying to sell you a new and exciting dongle, there's another that just wants you to look at an exciting project they've been working on. Those projects typically cover everything from electronics to knitting, programming to welding, and almost any other creative process that springs to mind. For attendees, there's the chance to see all that while also meeting like-minded people - and we can safely say that the average Maker Faire audience is a group worth meeting.

If it sounds like we're waxing lyrical, there's a reason: we love Maker Faires. Unsurprisingly, that means we're exhibiting at a bunch - and if you're not based in the UK, you'll still get your chance to meet us in person. Altogether, we're booked in to attend four events this year:

Maker Faire UK on the 25th and 26th of April

Maker Faire Bay Area on the 16th and 17th of May

Mini Maker Faire Halifax on the 30th and 31st of May

Maker Faire Shenzen on the 19th to the 21st of June

We'll have tables at all four events, showing off everything from our popular ARDX kits to some of the more off-the-wall creations to have popped out of our laser cutter, and there's also the promised bribe: an official and not-terribly-limited-edition oomlout keyring, laser-cut from the finest searingly-bright neon acrylic we could find, free for anyone who comes to find us. If you're planning to attend, let us know and we'll see you there!
