One of the most wonderful times of the year is finally upon us: the weekend of the Maker Faire UK! As we mentioned last month, we're touring four Maker Faire events this year: Maker Faire UK, Maker Faire Bay Area, Mini Maker Faire Halifax and Maker Faire Shenzen, and it all kicks off at the Life Science Centre in Newcastle this weekend. At an entirely appropriate venue - which is currently seeking a maker-in-residence - this year's Maker Faire UK promises to be even bigger and better than before. For those who've never been, we can only encourage you to come along and experience the event for yourselves.
If you do attend, be sure to swing by Stall C13 to see what wonders are contained in the pyramid of goodness pictured above, chat about your own projects, or just to snag one of our not-terribly-limited-edition keyrings for your swag collection. We'll also be participating in the Mega Fun United Kingdom Laser Challenge (#MFUKLC) against our friends from Deferred Procrastination and Pimoroni to see who can do the most damage to box-mounted post-it notes using homebrew ping-pong ball launching devices built from laser cut parts - although you may wish to watch that unfold from behind solid cover, or follow its progress from a safe distance via Twitter instead.
Maker Faire is the Greatest Show (and Tell) on Earth—a family-friendly showcase of invention, creativity and resourcefulness, and a celebration of the Maker movement. It’s a place where people show what they are making, and share what they are learning.
